Steve Thacker (OMP1), Owner & Managing Director of Ranger, was recently profiled in an indepth article published in Wire Rope Exchange a bi-monthly international magazine for the crane, rigging, lifting, and load securement industry.
The article details Steve’s early years and the he has with his son Ashley, Ranger’s General Manager. Steve is quoted as saying “The transition period started when we named Ash general manager. Initially, Ash would take control of the day-to-day operation of the business whilst I was away on vacations. Our working practices are consultative; we share an office. I’m not in an ivory tower and one day I’ll give Ash access to the throne. It’s collaboration. He takes control of purchasing sales and staff, while my main input these days is related to finance.”
Ashley and Steve go on to talk about the realignment the company undertook to begin transitioning from a family owned and managed business to one of the bigger players in the industry.
Rangers are continuing to evolve and expand. They have moved to new larger premises in Prestons (Sydney) and opened a new facility in Melbourne.
